Documentary project LOOKS publishes open educational hub during production
LOOKS, a feature-length documentary and online series about appearance and aesthetics produced by Pawel Lipka, is publishing an open educational hub while the film is still in production.
WARSAW, Poland, July 27, 2026 - LOOKS, a feature-length documentary and online series about appearance and aesthetics, is publishing an open educational hub while the film itself remains in production. The project is produced by Pawel Lipka, whose studio has created animation for internationally released television productions.
The hub publishes articles on appearance, aesthetics and health written for general readers rather than for specialists, and is available without charge at https://looksphilosophy.com/education. Recent material covers the airway and childhood development, the speed at which faces are judged, the cultural history of the smile, and the way appearance is treated across medicine, psychology and design.
Publishing during production rather than after release follows from the project's social mission, which is drawn from orthodontics and childhood development. The project's position is that a child's bite is a developmental matter rather than only a cosmetic one, and that this understanding is well established among specialists while rarely reaching the parents who make decisions about treatment. Waiting for a cinema release would delay that material by years.
LOOKS approaches appearance as a subject that no single profession owns. The documentary brings together experts from aesthetic medicine, health, psychology, design, architecture and technology, on the basis that each field holds part of the picture and that these fields rarely appear in the same conversation. Announced participants include Dr Patrick Treacy, who served as Michael Jackson's physician.
The production also departs from conventional documentary form. Approximately 30 percent of the multimedia consists of mixed visual techniques, combining 3D and 2D animation with drawing, painting and sculptural styles, assembled around expert interviews and live-action footage. The stated reason is that information alone rarely changes behaviour, and that developmental processes are easier to understand when they can be watched rather than only described.
The project consists of four pillars: the feature-length documentary film, an online series built around the same subject matter, the educational hub, and a conference programme that forms the live element of the project.
Pawel Lipka studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. His studio background includes animation for The Garfield Show, visual effects for the feature film Suicide Room, and the animated series Wlatcy Moch, alongside multimedia campaigns for organisations including Orange, Amazon and KGHM.
