German author Frank Pulina releases English edition of “The Island of the Babies”

WEIMAR, Germany — German author Frank Pulina has released the English edition of his novel “The Island of the Babies,” expanding the availability of the book to English-speaking readers internationally. The fictional psychological thriller is now available in e-book, paperback and hardcover formats.

The English-language release represents a new stage for the novel, which was originally made available to German-speaking readers under the title “Insel der Babys.” With the English edition, Pulina is making the story and its central themes accessible to a broader international audience.

“The Island of the Babies” follows Aaron, a wealthy and influential man accustomed to moving within privileged social circles. His encounter with Eppberg introduces him to an increasingly closed environment in which secrecy, personal dependency and control play significant roles.

As the story develops, Aaron is confronted with circumstances that challenge the assumption that money and social influence automatically provide independence. Relationships between the characters become increasingly shaped by information, personal interests and dependencies. The fictional narrative examines what can happen when individuals enter systems in which influence is concentrated among a limited number of people.

One of the central subjects of the novel is the relationship between public image and personal identity. Aaron has spent considerable effort determining how others should perceive him, while the circumstances surrounding him gradually force him to reconsider his own position.

“Aaron worked on how the world should perceive him, but in doing so forgot to perceive himself,” Pulina writes in the novel.

The book also examines the ways in which secrecy can alter relationships between individuals who possess money, status or social influence. Rather than treating wealth as a guarantee of freedom, the fictional story considers situations in which privilege can coexist with dependency.

Although the novel addresses themes that can be associated with contemporary public discussions about power and closed social networks, “The Island of the Babies” is a work of fiction. Its characters, events and narrative are fictional and are not presented as accounts of real individuals.

The themes of secrecy, influence and concentrated power have received renewed public attention in recent years through international scandals and investigations. Continuing public discussion surrounding the Epstein case and related files is one example of the broader interest in how powerful networks operate.
