Live Surgery, Cadaver Lab, and Awake Surgery Among the Highlights of Neuro University Summit 2026 in Brazil
The event will take place in October in São Paulo and offers an immersive experience connecting highly complex neurosurgery, neuroscience, and brain health
What happens inside an operating room when a team has to make decisions during a highly complex neurosurgical procedure? How do specialists train for new approaches to the brain? And how can knowledge about sleep, exercise, and behavior contribute to the current conversation on brain health?
These are just some of the topics that will be explored at Neuro University Summit 2026, a scientific gathering taking place on October 16th and 17th in São Paulo, Brazil, bringing together medical students, neurosurgeons, neurologists, pediatric neurologists, neuroscientists, and other health professionals.
Among the program's highlights is the broadcast of a live neurosurgery, narrated and discussed by specialists. The idea is to let attendees follow not just the procedure itself, but also the clinical reasoning, technical aspects, and decisions involved in surgery.
The program will also include lectures, panel discussions, and case presentations covering topics such as cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernomas, central nervous system tumors, epilepsy, and cerebrovascular surgery.
For neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Feres Chaddad, founder of Neuro University and creator of the Summit, the exchange of experience among specialists plays an important role in professional growth.
"Neurosurgery demands constant updating. Discussing cases, observing different approaches, and hands-on training all help professionals expand their knowledge and be better prepared for the challenges of daily practice," he says.
The experience begins even before the main event. From October 13 to 15, the Pre-Summit will be dedicated to technical skill-building activities.
In the Supratentorial Access Course in the Cadaver Lab, participants will be able to deepen their knowledge of neuroanatomy and study surgical approaches in a lab setting. The Awake Surgery course, meanwhile, will focus on the technique used in certain procedures in which the patient stays awake for part of the surgery, allowing neurological functions to be monitored in real time.
The 2026 program also broadens its scope beyond surgery itself. Brain health, neuroperformance, sleep, physical exercise, environmental factors, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation will all be among the topics discussed at the event.
Neuro University's aim is to approach the brain in a broad, integrated way, following the patient's full journey from a healthy brain and strategies for preventing and preserving brain health, through the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, to highly complex neurosurgery and post-procedure rehabilitation.
