London Studio Seeks £300 to Cover Store Fees for Completed Detective Game

LONDON, September 20, 2026 — MediaVerse Labs, an independent game studio based in London, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Night Shift: Case Files, a neo-noir detective deduction game. The campaign, which runs until Friday, October 2, 2026, at 9:51 BST, has a funding goal of £300 and is structured as all-or-nothing. According to the studio, the game is fully developed and tested, and the funds will be used solely to cover store entry fees: the Steam Direct submission fee, the Apple Developer Program membership, and Microsoft Partner Center registration. Any remaining funds will be allocated to marketing.

The game places players in the role of a night-shift desk officer who reviews case files, cross-checks documents, identifies forgeries, and breaks alibis before deciding to charge or release suspects. The campaign page describes a seven-night structure with recurring characters and confrontations against an antagonist known as The Broker. The game features eight endings determined by accuracy, bribes taken, and moral choices, along with a bribe system that triggers reactions from an Internal Affairs department.

Gameplay and Content Details

The Night Shift: Case Files, includes evidence-based interrogations where three empty pushes cause a suspect to request legal representation. Additional modes include Manhunt and Endless, with fifty reactive suspects and a full voice cast in English and Spanish. The game is designed for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as Mac App Store. It is built in the Godot engine, with art, voices, and music created using commercial AI tools. MediaVerse Labs states that game design, mechanics, and case structure are original.

Reward tiers for backers are set at £3 for a Steam key and £8 for a Steam key plus a name in the credits. Estimated delivery is October 2026. The studio, whose legal entity is Eager Dragon Publishing Ltd, notes that this is its first multi-store release.

Transparency and Funding Approach

The Kickstarter campaign does not fund development, as the game is already complete. Instead, it covers the administrative costs required to publish on multiple digital storefronts. This approach is uncommon in crowdfunding, where campaigns often fund ongoing development. MediaVerse Labs has disclosed that no promised features are missing from the finished product.
