Mother-Daughter Filmmaking Team Takes Eye for Eye to Chicago

CHICAGO, IL - Independent feature film Eye for Eye, written and produced by Detroit filmmaker Nyambe Nichole, is scheduled to screen in Chicago on Friday, October 16, 2026, as the first stop of a planned four-state premiere tour. The screening is part of the film’s expansion beyond its Detroit production base and follows its Detroit premiere.

The project is also the first feature collaboration between Nichole and her daughter, Iceis Boyer. Nichole wrote the screenplay and serves as producer, while Boyer serves as director and makes her feature directorial debut with the production.

The collaboration developed as Nichole moved from writing the story to working with Boyer to bring the screenplay to the screen. The project represents a shared filmmaking effort between two members of the same family, with Nichole working in writing and producing and Boyer taking responsibility for directing the feature.

“I’ve created several films, but Eye for Eye is special because this is the first time my daughter and I have been able to bring a film to life together,” said Nichole. “I wrote the story, but then I had to trust Iceis to take those words and make them her own as a director. Watching her step into that role and find her voice behind the camera was one of the most rewarding parts of this entire experience. We’re building legacy one story at a time.”

Eye for Eye is a revenge thriller focused on murder, family secrets and the consequences that follow an attempt to pursue personal justice. The story begins after a young woman is murdered. Her killer subsequently receives a series of cryptic messages signed “Eye for Eye,” followed by a series of deaths involving members of his family.

The film comes from So Icey Productions and reflects the independent filmmaking work of its Detroit-based creators. The Chicago screening provides an opportunity for the production to be presented to audiences outside Detroit as the film continues its planned premiere tour.

Nichole’s previous filmmaking credits include Dear Future Husband and Deadly Desires. Dear Future Husband received Best Film and Best Screenplay at the 2022 Detroit Filmmaker Awards. The film has also reached audiences through streaming platforms including Tubi and Amazon Prime.

Boyer previously wrote and produced Blind Trust. Her work on Eye for Eye represents her move into feature directing and establishes a filmmaking collaboration with Nichole in which the two worked together in different creative roles.

The Chicago screening is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Regal City North, 2600 N. Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
