Rental Karting Emerges as Affordable Pathway to Professional Motorsport in Indonesia
Fatan Alfa Raid, an 11-year-old Indonesian racer, is proving that rental karting can be an affordable pathway to professional motorsport, securing corporate sponsorships and competing internationally.

JAKARTA, Indonesia – July 20, 2026 – For years, the dream of becoming a professional racing driver in Indonesia has been largely confined to families with deep pockets, where entering pro-kart categories like the ROK Cup can cost hundreds of millions of rupiah in customized chassis and upfront capital. But a new model is emerging from an unexpected source: commercial rental karting tracks.
Eleven-year-old racing prodigy Fatan Alfa Raid, from Jakarta, is proving that world-class race craft, media savvy, and corporate backing can be nurtured right on rental tracks, shifting the perception of these venues from weekend recreation to high-stakes stepping stones for junior careers. Competing in the globally recognized Sodi World Series (SWS) Junior Cup and the Kart inc Pro League (KPL), Fatan has turned rental arenas into a proven proving ground for open-wheel racing aspirations.
“We are using the SWS platform to show families across Indonesia that entering motorsport doesn’t have to cost hundreds of millions from day one,” stated a representative from FAR Racing Management, Fatan’s team. “There is an affordable, structured, and international pathway right at your local rental track.”
Fatan’s journey captured national attention in November 2025 when he secured a historic, race-by-race sponsorship from energy giant Pertamina for the SWS Junior Cup Round 6 at Gokart Avenue. The partnership began organically with a bold, professional Instagram direct message sent by his management. Intrigued, Pertamina executives invited the young driver—then 10 years old—and his team to corporate headquarters, where FAR Racing Management educated the board on the global scale and competitive merit of the SWS.
Fatan instantly validated their trust by capturing a stunning first-place victory in that round. Since then, a dynamic roster of corporate partners—including Polowijo Gosari, Walking Drums, Garasi 64, Miratech International, and Merapi Golf—have joined his journey via the same innovative race-by-race sponsorship model.
Beyond on-track performance, FAR Racing Management deliberately trains Fatan to be a “commercial-ready athlete,” teaching him to manage media interviews and execute digital content activations for sponsors. This holistic approach aims to create a sustainable blueprint for other aspiring drivers, democratizing access to motorsport.
Fatan is next scheduled to take the grid for the SWS Junior Cup on August 1, 2026, at Gokart Avenue, aiming to secure vital points toward his ultimate dream: representing Indonesia at the SWS World Finals in Europe.
