Broadway Palm Launches Three-Concert September Music Series Beginning Sept. 4

As the cultural calendar shifts from summer to the vibrant fall season, live entertainment venues across the region are curating diverse offerings to capture audiences seeking memorable experiences. Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is tapping into that demand with a specially designed three-concert series in September, bringing together acclaimed local musicians for tributes to the music of the 1970s, the boomer generation's soundtrack, and the iconic hits of the 1980s. This series underscores a growing trend in the industry: audiences are increasingly drawn to nostalgia-driven live performances that offer a communal celebration of beloved music.

The Fort Myers venue will host three distinct productions, each running for a limited engagement: Yacht Rockin' on September 4 and 5, My Boomer Generation on September 11 and 12, and 80s REWIND on September 24 and 25. All performances feature live vocals and instrumentation, with lineups of accomplished Southwest Florida musicians.

Yacht Rockin' opens the series, paying homage to the smooth, jazz-infused rock of the late '70s and early '80s. The six-piece ensemble, led by drummer and musical director Darrell Nutt, includes guitarist/vocalist James Albritton, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Matt Baxley, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Hunter McDaniel, saxophonist Jennifer Mazziotti, and bassist Steve Friedman. Their repertoire spans hits from Ambrosia, Toto, America, Michael McDonald, Gary Wright, Steely Dan, and Christopher Cross. The musicians' collective credits include work with members of Steely Dan, Yes, The Moody Blues, Goo Goo Dolls, and Sly Stone, as well as artists like Glenn Frey and Counting Crows. Performances are scheduled for Friday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, September 5 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

My Boomer Generation follows on September 11 and 12, offering a journey through the songs that defined a generation. The five-piece ensemble, again featuring Darrell Nutt, includes bassist/vocalist Susie Hulcher, guitarist/vocalist Rick Howard, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Hunter McDaniel, and saxophonist Jennifer Mazziotti. Their setlist draws from The Rolling Stones, The Band, Paul Simon, Rickie Lee Jones, Neil Young, and Carly Simon, among others. The production celebrates the songwriting and distinctive voices that remain connected to the memories of a generation. Shows are Friday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The series concludes with 80s REWIND on September 24 and 25, a high-energy seven-piece band that resurrects the big sounds of the decade. The ensemble includes Darrell Nutt on drums, Susie Hulcher on bass and vocals, Sarah Hadeka on keyboards, guitar and vocals, Will Kaiser on guitar and vocals, Ray Nesbit on guitar and vocals, Matt Baxley on keyboards, guitar and vocals, and Jennifer Mazziotti on saxophone. Their music spans Peter Gabriel, Blondie, The Cars, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Eurythmics, and Madonna. The musicians bring extensive touring and recording experience, with credits including work with members of Steely Dan, AC/DC, Journey, Boston, The Moody Blues, Cheap Trick, Goo Goo Dolls, and The Allman Brothers. Notably, Kaiser and Nesbit are also key members of the popular Pink Floyd tribute Floyd Nation. Performances are Thursday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
